Veterinary Externship Opportunity 

Established in 1996, Kind Care Animal Hospital is a privately-owned and family operated multiple doctor practice, located just a few miles from the coast of North Myrtle Beach. One can enjoy the beach or suburb life and still be within driving distance. 

We cultivate a family-friendly environment with a high rate of staff retention, as 4 out of 5 (80%) doctors have been employed here for over 7 years. The practice boasts a skilled and knowledgeable support staff, maintaining a 2 tech/assistant to DVM ratio, with 57% of the support staff having been employed here for more than 5 years. The team enjoys frequent staff outings and numerous fun in-office games to foster a strong bond among all members.

Our doctor team has over 50 years of experience between them and are eager to pass the knowledge they have gained through that experience on to the next generation of doctors! 

While we are a general practice clinic, we also are one of the largest and most progressive practices within a few hours!

Dental procedures are a strong focus at our clinic. Our technicians and assistants are very proficient in both dental prophy and dental radiology, which is included in every dental procedure.

Work/Life Balance is part of who we are. Our full-time veterinarians work 4 days a week. We are not open for regular appointments on weekends, giving our staff more time to unwind between work weeks. We do not have after hours/emergency requirements, and we are closed for all holidays. Our schedules are flexible, allowing for your weekday off to be moved if you have a special need in a given week, without having to use vacation or sick time to do so. We also allow some flexibility in your lunch time period if needed to go to scheduled appointments or for family events like school plays and performances. 

During a normal weekday, we have 2-3 exam room doctors, 1 surgery doctor, 8 veterinary technicians/assistants, 4 client care specialists and 1 practice manager.  We pride ourselves in team-based medicine.

We are a paper lite practice utilizing Shepherd cloud-based PIMs, IDEXX Diagnostics for both in-house and reference laboratory needs, digital full-body and dental radiography, ultrasound, and Companion Laser.

Mentorship, done your way. We have experience mentoring new graduates and welcome them to our team. We have followed an extern program that allows for progression from following a DVM to seeing your own appointments (with guidance and supervision) towards the end. We also work closely with the local humane society to schedule shelter pets that you can lead surgery with during your externship. 

Salary that exceeds benchmarks. Externships are a great way to open the door for future job opportunities! Our professional package offers a $100,000 - 120,000 base salary and includes production bonuses of 21-22% of gross, along with a very competitive benefits package. Our associate vets typically earn around $130,000 to $145,000 per year with this model. We offer group health insurance, continuing education benefits, paid sick and vacation time, pet care benefits, student loan repayment, and more. 

Enrollment in an accredited veterinary school is a requirement for this externship.

KCAH was established by Dr. Robin Livingston in June of 1996 and is still owned by her today.
