Job Description

The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the CVM's overall goals through collaborative research and management of immunology-related projects of large animal species/companion animals in the Comparative Internal Medicine Laboratory and the Comparative Oncology Radiobiology and Epigenetics Laboratory.  He/she may be expected to supervise other laboratory personnel including technicians, fellows, and undergraduate, graduate, and professional students.

Minimum Qualifications:

PhD in immunology or a closely related field

Candidates will be evaluated on: 

• Experience in laboratory techniques that may include (but not limited to) flow cytometry, ELISA/ELISPOT, Real-time PCR, western blot, light and fluorescence microscopy, and cell culture. 
• Experience in use of computer software for flow cytometric analysis, primer design, real-time PCR quantification analysis, Microsoft Office, and statistical analysis.
• Ability to perform literature searches to identify and implement new laboratory techniques. 
• Ability to adapt existing protocols or develop de novo immunologic assays that can be used in the assessment of a variety of spontaneous and induced immune-mediated, inflammatory, neoplastic or immunodeficiency disorders of companion animals.
• Educational and professional achievement
• Research experience, communication skills, organizational skills, ability to develop and troubleshoot immunologic assays, experience working effectively in diverse environments and letters of reference will all be considered.
• Good organizational and communication/instructional skills
• Potential for the candidate to succeed within the framework of the Comparative Internal Medicine Laboratory and the Comparative Oncology Laboratory will also be assessed.
