| Position summary The medical operations director, under the guidance of the medical director and executive director, leads and aligns the medical department with the organization's overall strategic plan. This position directs the medical team's work while focusing on achieving the most significant impact and providing the highest quality care. The medical operations director stays abreast of veterinary medicine trends and actively promotes interdepartmental collaboration to achieve lifesaving goals and excellent customer service. Key responsibilities Lead and manage clinic, satellite team veterinarians and staff, setting clear goals and expectations. Work closely and collaboratively with the medical director and executive director to identify, create and implement opportunities for improving service delivery methods and procedures for the clinic and satellite operations. Prepare and manage the operational budget and metrics for the clinic in partnership with the executive director. Identify, track, and implement opportunities, strategies and tactics for improving client, volunteer and employee satisfaction. Ensure the growth of skills and continuing education resources for the team. Develop progressive programs that engage the public, volunteers and staff to promote the hospital and quality animal care. Develop financial and historic operational statistics through research and reporting as needed by the clinic and other departments/divisions. Keep abreast of concerns and trends in the animal welfare movement/shelter medicine. Maintain a safe workplace, value and model safe work practices, adhere to organizational safety practices and rules, and communicate unsafe practices and conditions.
