The Humane Society of Weld County (HSWC) is an open admission animal shelter located in Evans, CO, just one hour north of Denver and a short 45 minute drive from Rocky Mountain National Park and Estes Park. With an annual intake of over 4,000 animals per year, the HSWC provides quality care for shelter pets and has a 92% live release rate. In addition to providing shelter services for stray and homeless animals, the HSWC recently opened a community wellness clinic to provide affordable veterinary care to community pets. March 2019 will be its third year of operation and we are looking to expand our services. The Animal Assistance Foundation, which has been taking care of Colorado’s animals since 1975, awarded the HSWC a grant to grow our veterinary services for both shelter and community pets.
We are looking for both a full time (40 hours) and part-time veterinarian (20 hours per week) to join our team Duties include providing wellness services for community cats and dogs, including treatment of minor illnesses and injuries, physical examinations of shelter pets, spaying/neutering and minor surgeries and/or dentals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Provides medical and surgical care for shelter animals; Performs high volume spay/neuters on shelter animals and public animals; examines all incoming animals within 48 hours and establishes treatment for shelter animals needing medical care; provides follow-up on all medical and surgical conditions/complications; Provides timely medical care to all shelter animals pursuant to policy and PACFA regulations; Communicates special problems, needs and condition to the Chief Shelter Veterinarian, Director of Operations and/or Executive Director; Ensures that all medical logs and controlled substances are properly accounted for and documented according to policy; Ensures that clinic team works cohesively and communicates amongst each other; Writes reports as necessary and documents all patient activity in PetPoint and IDEXX NEO Establishes successful liaisons with local shelters, area veterinary community, CSU and CVMA; Provides guidance/counsel on special events involving shelter or public animals; Participates in and coordinates the regularly scheduled vaccination clinics as required; Other duties as assigned.
