About For the Love of Dogs
For the Love of Dogs is a no-kill. non profit animal shelter and veterinary clinic located in Wilson, N.C. (the eastern part of N.C) on a picturesque 38 acre farm. The fenced in estate has a beautifully manicured landscape for dogs to run and play. Set in a rural area, the pond on the ranch is breathtaking.
The Co Founders, Max Fitz-Gerald, PhD and Della Fitz-Gerald, PhD established For the Love of Dogs in December 2002. The Fitz-Geralds are committed to advocating for the humane treatment of dogs. Sheltering dogs in need includes a program of housing, feeding and medically caring for each of the 100 plus animals on site. We started with three full sized buildings. In 2005 a veterinary clinic was built on the property. The fully equipped clinic is designed to make veterinary care cost friendly to rescue organizations and families of limited income.
